シュヴィッタース展：都会で拾ったDADA 　　　Kurt Schwitters

1983年に高輪美術館、西武美術館で開催された「シュヴィッタース展：都会で拾ったDADA」展カタログ。
クルト・シュヴィッタースの活躍は、ダダ、構成主義、超現実主義に重なり、その表現は、絵画、詩、立体作品、グラフィック・デザイン、タイポグラフィ、音響、パフォーマンスなどに及ぶ。彼が生み出した表現の概念でもあるMERZ（メルツ）は、多様な素材の利用、機械への憧憬など、20世紀前半の前衛の粋を散りばめたものだ。このカタログは、美術評論家の中原祐介の解説で始まり、シュヴィッタース家の子息などの文章を、日本語、英語で読むことができる。平面、立体の作品が紹介され、シュヴィッタースの作品の全貌が見える。カタログは、経年劣化しているが、貴重な文献である。

This is the exhibition catalog for the “Kurt Schwitters: Dada in the City” exhibition held at the Takanawa Art Museum and Seibu Museum of Art in 1983.
Kurt Schwitters's activities overlapped with Dada, Constructivism and Surrealism, and his expressions ranged from painting and poetry to three-dimensional works, graphic design, typography, sound and performance. MERZ, a concept of expression he created, was a mixture of the avant-garde styles of the first half of the 20th century, including the use of diverse materials and a fascination with machines. This catalog begins with an introduction by art critic Yusuke Nakahara, and includes writings by Schwitters's family and others, in both Japanese and English. It introduces both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works, and gives a comprehensive overview of Schwitters's work. The catalog is a valuable reference, although it has deteriorated over time.
