村山知義　グラフィックの仕事

日本のアバンギャルド美術を語るときに絶対に欠かせない村山知義。アーティスト、デザイナー、パフォーマー、建築家、劇作家、小説家、絵本作家、社会活動家・・・マルチなタレントと尽きないエネルギーに満ちた村山は、普通の尺度では測りきれない。この本は、彼のグラフィック・デザイナーとしての側面に焦点を当てたものである。デザイン作品として鑑賞するだけでなく、自由を求めて活発な活動が行われていた大正時代の雰囲気を、本の装丁、ポスター、チラシ、挿絵などから見ることができる。
村山知義生誕100周年を記念して2001年に出版された。

Tomoyoshi Murayama is absolutely indispensable when discussing Japanese avant-garde art. Artist, designer, performer, architect, playwright, novelist, picture book author, social activist... Murayama's multi-talents and boundless energy cannot be measured by ordinary scales. This book focuses on his aspect as a graphic designer. In addition to appreciating his design works, one can see the atmosphere of the Taisho period (1912-1926), when he was actively seeking freedom, through the book's binding, posters, flyers, illustrations, and so on.
The book was published in 2001 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Tomoyoshi Murayama's birth.
