Philippe Halsmann (1906-1979) was one of the most famous portrait photographers, having graced more than 100 covers of LIFE magazine. But he did not limit himself to commercial photography. His photographs amaze even art lovers. Many of the photographs in this book are familiar to them. Halsman's portraits of Jean Cocteau and Salvator Dali floating in the air with his cats are among them. Georgia O'Keeffe, Andy Warhol, and other notable artists. His work is also art history.
His wife Yvonne worked closely with him, took her own photographs of him at work, and is a co-author of the book. This collection of photographs is recommended for art fans.
