THE VILLAGE Weegee

ウィージー・ザ・フェイマス（別名アーサー・フェリグ、1899-1968）、通称ウィージーは生前、40年代後半から50年代にかけてのアメリカのボヘミアンの中心地、ニューヨークのグリニッジ・ヴィレッジを題材にした本のためにダミーを作っていた。その生前未発表の写真集である。
ウィージーはこの界隈を徘徊し、ヴィレッジの中心地であるワシントン・スクエアに集まって、フォークソングを歌ったりする人々や、その周辺のカフェやバーに集まる人々を撮影している。（中には、ジェームス・ディーンの顔が見える）
彼が愛した街の写真集である。

Weegee the Famous (Arthur Fellig, 1899-1968), aka Weegee, was making dummies for a book about Greenwich Village, New York, the bohemian center of America in the late 40s and 50s, before his death. The book is a collection of photographs that were unpublished before his death.
Weezy roamed the neighborhood, photographing people gathered in Washington Square, the heart of the Village, singing folk songs and gathering in the cafes and bars around the area. (Among them, you can see James Dean's face.)
This is a collection of photographs of the city he loved.
