The picture book "Onaka no Kawa" (Cat and Parrot) is a story for children. The story by Teiji Seta, illustrated by Tomoyoshi Murayama, was first published in 1958; new edition in 1975.
Tomoyoshi Murayama, an all-around multi-player artist, is a maverick who led the Japanese avant-garde art scene, but he had been working as a picture book artist before he came into his own as an artist. What is amazing about Murayama is that he is able to cross the boundaries of art, performance, architecture, fashion, theater, and other fields, while demonstrating his talent in each of them.
In this picture book, we can also see one aspect of Tomoyoshi Murayama's talent.
