AMERIKA Tim Rollins + K.O.S.

ティム・ロリンズ＋K.O.S.（キッズ・オブ・サバイバル）は、高校生とアーティストのティム・ロリンズからなるコラボレーション・グループ。1981年にニューヨークのサウスブロンクスで結成された。1984年から89年にかけて制作された「Amerika」シリーズから13点の大規模なペインティングを中心に、1989年10月から翌年6月までニューヨークのDia art foundationでの展覧会が開催された。フランツ・カフカの同名小説にインスパイアされた作品は、ニューヨークでの移民生活を送る小説の主人公に語りかけるものである。絵画は、小説のページを背景としたグリッドの上に、角やラッパ、装飾品の形をしたダイナミックな金色のフォルムが描かれている。展覧会には、このシリーズのための80点の習作ドローイングと、長さ6フィート、70枚のパネルからなる絵画が展示された。

Tim Rollins + K.O.S. (Kids of Survival), a collaborative group consisting of high school students and artist Tim Rollins, was formed in 1981 in the South Bronx, New York. from the series "Amerika," created between 1984 and 1989. An exhibition of 13 large-scale paintings was held at the Dia art foundation in New York City from October 1989 to June of the following year. Inspired by Franz Kafka's novel of the same name, the paintings speak to the novel's protagonist's life as an immigrant in New York City. The paintings feature dynamic golden forms in the form of horns, trumpets, and ornaments on a grid of background pages from the novel. The exhibition included 80 study drawings for the series and a painting consisting of 70 panels, each six feet long.
