アンセルム・キーファーの８０年代の作品集。1986年、ケルンのGalerie Paul Maenzギャラリーで開催された展覧会に合わせて出版された。下地に砂、藁、鉛などを混ぜた、巨大な画面の彼の代表的な作品を見ることができる。キーファーは、ヨゼフ・ボイスなどに師事した。題材の歴史主義的な内容で、好まれることが多い。古代神話、ナチズム、現代までを含めたドイツの歴史や、神秘主義的な要素、また同時に現代の日常的な要素を組み合わせている。これらは、ボイスからの影響とも言えるだろう。80年代後半に登場した新表現主義の作品でもある。
A collection of Anselm Kiefer's work from the 1980s. It was published in conjunction with an exhibition at the Galerie Paul Maenz gallery in Cologne. We can see his signature work of huge screens with a mixture of sand, straw, and lead on a base layer. Kiefer studied under Joseph Beuys and others. He is often favored for the historicist content of his subject matter. He combines elements of German history, including ancient mythology, Nazism, and up to the present day, as well as mysticism, and at the same time, contemporary everyday elements. These could be described as influences from Beuys, and the neo-expressionism that emerged in the late 80s.
