Ilya Kabakov

イリヤ・カバコフ（1933年生まれ）は、20世紀後半に登場した最も重要な「ロシア人アーティスト」として一般的に知られているが、正確にはウクライナ人。
彼のインスタレーション作品は、スターリン主義後のロシアの状況とともに、普遍的な人間の条件について語っている。彼の作品は、ニューヨーク近代美術館（1991年）、パリのポンピドゥー・センター（1995年）、アムステルダムのステデライク美術館（1995年）など、国際的な主要会場で展示されている。

Ilya Kabakov (b. 1933) is generally known as the most important "Russian artist" to emerge in the second half of the 20th century, but to be precise he is Ukrainian.
His installation works speak about the universal human condition as well as the situation in post-Stalinist Russia. His work has been exhibited in major international venues, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York (1991), the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris (1995), and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam (1995).

The book includes interviews, idea sketches, essays, and much more, giving a complete picture of Kabakov's works.

David A. RossDavid A. Ross interviews the artist, and art critic Boris Groys examines and analyzes Kabakov's long career. The book consists of a variety of essays that include various other art, literary, and historical matters.
