VISIONS OF THE BODY: Fashion or Invisible Corset　身体の夢 ファッション OR 見えないコルセット

衣服を通して自分の身体を意識する。
生活のさまざまな場面で、衣服を着替えることで身体を意識している。
展覧会では、エリザベス一世に捧げられたという1600年頃の「ボディス」から、斬新な映像を使用して自由な身体の意味を広い視点から探る展覧会だった。

プロローグ：成型された身体（20世紀以前）』ではコルセット、クリノリンなど、女性の身体を拘束して、ドレスの美しさを追求した時代の下着等を展示して、20世紀以前の服飾と身体の関係を考える。

第1章：自然な身体と20世紀のファッション』では20世紀初頭にコルセットが放棄されたことによって、身体の自由を獲得した女性ファッションの変遷

第2章：揺らぐ身体とファッションでは1990年代に入りエイズの恐怖や臓器移植の実現など多様な問題に直面した、我々の身体意識の現在を先鋭的なデザイナーと現代美術作家の作品によって示す。

京都服飾文化研究財団の所蔵する貴重な17世紀の服飾品から、現代美術の作品までの多様な作品を通して、さまざまな身体像が提示される。

Be aware of your body through your clothing.
Becoming aware of one's body through clothing in various aspects of life.
The exhibition will feature a collection of works of art from the 1600s.
The exhibition was an exploration of the meaning of the free body from a broad perspective, using innovative images from a "bodice" from around 1600, which was dedicated to Queen Elizabeth I.

Prologue: The Molded Body (Pre-20th Century)
In "Prologue: Molded Bodies (Pre-20th Century)," corsets, crinolines, and other undergarments from the era when women's bodies were constrained to pursue the beauty of dress were displayed to consider the relationship between clothing and the body before the 20th century.

In Chapter 1: The Natural Body and 20th Century Fashion, we will discuss the transition of women's fashion, which gained physical freedom with the abandonment of the corset in the early 20th century.

In Chapter 2: The Wavering Body and Fashion, works by cutting-edge designers and contemporary artists show the present state of our body consciousness in the 1990s, when we faced diverse issues such as the fear of AIDS and the realization of organ transplantation.

Various images of the body are presented through a wide range of works, from valuable 17th century clothing from the Kyoto Costume Institute to contemporary art works.
